About INTERCOM Ball Cage Guide Pillars and Bushes

Lillo Silipigni created INTERCOM S.r.l. in 1981, which operates in the shearing and molding equipment sector of plastic materials. They currently offer a specific range of products which includes a complete assortment of tools for sheet metal and plastic processing and an extensive program dedicated to solutions special. The production includes: standardized guide elements according to DIN/ISO standards, punches and dies standard and customized, BMI200 mechanical tapping machines and SL2005 electronic tapping machines for threading inside the mold and standard and custom mold holder blocks.

Roll Cages

The use of the roller cage is essential if the steering system is subjected to high transverse forces. Intercom roller cage can support loads up to 12 times that of the classic ball cage guide, distributing the driving effort along the contact line of the profile of the roller itself. The support surface of the roller in fact distributes uniformly the load, thus ensuring a greater longevity of the entire system.

Guide Pillars

The guide pillar and guide bush align the fixed and moving halves of a mold in each cycle. The material cases are usually made of medium carbon steel and will have higher hardness.

Self-Lubricating bush with Intercoat

The INTERCOAT process coats the surfaces metallic. Through a pre-treatment mechanical the surface of the material is deeply cleaned. This allows to the fluoropolymer to anchor itself to the substrate, obtaining an extension of the properties anti-wear, anti-friction and anti-corrosion, reducing the risk of detachment. The coefficient of friction is between 0.05 and 0.2.

Intercom guide, sliding friction, Intercoat self-lubricating sliding:

It consists of a steel bush with a sliding surface covered with a special self-lubricating coating with addition of spiral lubrication channels, equipped with greasing system for topping up the grease. The steel bush body ensures proper breaking strength even in the presence of high bending stresses.

Guide Bushes Complete with Bronze Ball Cage

Guide Bush Bronze Plated

Precision intercom guide, with sliding friction, sliding on bronze:

It consists of a steel bush with a surface, scroll covered with a bronze insert with addition of spiral lubrication channels, fitted of greasing system for topping up the grease. The steel bush body ensures proper breaking strength even in the presence of high bending stresses.

Intercom Precision Ball Guide

The accurate finish, the particularly tight tolerance of the balls and a correct preload, allow movement without backlash. The benefits of rolling friction come to their fullest enhanced thanks to the rectification and super-finishing of the rolling surfaces. The high flowability of this guide is very popular with manufacturers of moulds. Intercom ball guides are equipped with cages in bronze, aluminum and synthetic material, e thanks to their high number of spheres and their stability, they have given the best practical results.

Ball Cages

The ball guiding mini-series allow getting the maximum precision with a soft sliding. They are used in the field of control instruments and among delicate workings.

Superior Performance for Precision Moulds

Designed for critical injection moulds and die sets, INTERCOM Ball Cage Guide Pillars and Bushes ensure alignment, stability, and smooth operation. Their ground and polished surfaces coupled with high hardness levels guarantee minimal wear and superior performance. Customization allows adaptation to specific mould requirements while maintaining high precision and load capacity throughout demanding cycles.

Exceptional Material & Surface Treatments

Manufactured from premium alloy steel, EN31, or hardened steel, these guide pillars and bushes receive thorough hardening and anti-corrosive surface treatments such as phosphating. Options for seals, lubrication, and cage materialbrass, polymer, or steelprovide the flexibility to match environmental and application conditions, enhancing longevity and resistance against corrosion.

Versatile Design and Mounting Options

With bore sizes ranging from 6 mm to 50 mm and outer diameters between 10 mm and 100 mm, these ball cage guide sets accommodate various design requirements. The ability to choose between press-fit or screw mounting, open or sealed constructions, and standard or customized thicknesses makes them ideal for both new installations and retrofitting into existing dies or moulds.

FAQs of INTERCOM Ball Cage Guide Pillars and Bushes:

Q: How are INTERCOM Ball Cage Guide Pillars and Bushes mounted in moulds and die sets?

A: These guide pillars and bushes can be installed using either a press-fit or screw mounting method, depending on the specific requirements of your mould or die set. This flexibility ensures secure and precise placement for optimal alignment.

Q: What tolerance standards do these guide sets meet, and how does this affect their performance?

A: They are available with ISO h7/h6 tolerances, which ensure high precision fit between mating components. This tight tolerance minimizes play and supports consistent, accurate movement even under high loads and speeds.

Q: When is it beneficial to opt for customized guide pillars and bushes?

A: Customization is ideal when your application requires specific dimensions, mounting methods, seal types, or materials. Providing drawings or specifications enables tailoring the product for unique mould designs, high temperature environments, or specialized sealing and lubrication needs.

Q: Where can these guide pillars and bushes be effectively used?

A: They are suitable for injection moulds, die sets, and various precision dies found in automotive, electronics, and packaging industries. Their high load-carrying capacity and precision make them reliable for demanding, high-speed operations.

Q: What process ensures the anti-corrosive properties of these guide pillars and bushes?

A: An anti-corrosive surface treatment, such as phosphating, is applied during manufacturing, creating a protective layer that resists oxidation and prolongs lifespan in humid or chemically harsh environments.

Q: How do the ball cage structure and lubrication affect the usage and maintenance?

A: The ball cage design enables smooth, low-friction movement even at high speeds (up to 3000 rpm). With both grease and oil lubrication options, maintenance needs are reduced, making them suitable for continuous, high-cycle operations.

Q: What are the primary benefits of using INTERCOM Ball Cage Guide Pillars and Bushes?

A: Key benefits include high accuracy, durability due to rigorous hardening and surface treatments, versatility in design, robust load and speed handling, and the ability to customize features for precise industry requirements.
